Default Today's Drive

I met up with Jim this morning. We grabbed some breakfast and headed out to Mt Hood National Forest. It was a nice drive, sunny and warm, with a few cool breezes blowing. There was some sort of Kayk meeting so there was a ton of traffic.

Thanks Jim, that was a great road.

Now for some pics

Jim waiting pulled over on the side of the road just before a guy on a bike pulled a u-turn to stop and talk to us about our S2000's.

Some whitewater rafters.

I got home and decided to wash the car off. Look at that water bead up.

That looks vaguely familiar. Jim/Garret, was that Hwy 224 outside of Estacada? Rafting on the Clackamas river is a blast.

We went on 224 last year for our Detroit Lake picnic. That is a beautiful stretch of road!

Looks like you guys enjoyed it!

Good eye, Doug! Yes, that's the view of the Clackamas River Gorge just as you pop over the hill past Estacada.

I also took Garret by the Stonecliff Inn in Carver - a good spot for an off-season lunch & mini-drive.

Did you use 224 to get to Stone Cliff, or did you come up the other side of the Clackamas River?

Plan A for the last drive was going to use 224 so we could get some twisties in before long shot up the mountain.

We basically drove a loop from Carver:
224 to Carver
crossed the river at Carver (Stonecliff Inn is to the right of the end of the bridge)
followed Springwater Road (west side of the river) all the way down to 211
took 211 into Estacada
headed up 224 through the Clackamas River Gorge
turned around after 15/20 miles
came all the way back to Carver via 224 (east side of the river)

That is an awesome loop! Done it many times when I had time and gas to kill! I add a trip up Amissiger to Judd from 224 to 211 just for kicks sometimes as well. That is a nice road to cruise on.
