Default TOP REPLACEMENT FOR 00 S2000

Replacing top on my 00. Oem top replacement runs 1101. My cost through friend at honda is 734. However, on ebay topsonline.com has the same top with glass window for 450.00. Which way should I go. The aftermarket top comes with the kit to modify for the glass window in the back and also has a five year warranty. Please help as need to order new top by this Tuesday.

The shop will put either top on for 800.00. So just need your help deciding pros and cons

Is that eBay or topsonline?

So your options are an OEM top with plastic window from a friend at honda for $734 or an aftermarket top from an undetermined online site for $450 with a glass window and five year warranty? Is that top with the glass an OEM or some other brand?

I think the glass window top requires changing the motors too ...

When are you planning on replacing your top? I've been wanting to replace my top for some time now. (Maybe we can get group buy from your friend ) If your friend at beaverton auto can replace my top with a rear glass window I would like to bring my business their way. otherwise I would probabily buy my top from one of the link below.

As for the motor, based on the Honda's OEM parts catalog it appears that the same motor is used on all years.

I need to replace my top. If there is a group buy, top or installation, I am in.

Cabrio World, no doubt.

$800 to install the top? Are you kidding me? Why don't you have a hook up for that, too?

And no, you don't need new motors for the glass top - just a velcro strap to manipulate the frame from folding and breaking the glass.

Installing the top is a DIY, IMO. Best of luck to you. I hope that installation price includes vaseline.

I'm a former Portland area owner so I browse through here from time to time. Just thought I would share what I've been through.

My original top wore out while it was still under warranty. Beaverton Honda agreed to do the glass top conversion for me if I paid the difference. At the time the conversions were still very new and I believe I was one of the forerunners. Anyway...the top was replaced and I was very happy. What I didn't realize was that where they rivet the elastic straps into the frame they left some sharp edges exposed. I didn't figured it out until I had a nice new hole. The hole just developed over last summer. I patched it for the time being because I wasn't quite sure how I wanted to handle it and I knew I was moving to Hawaii. Well...when I got here the other side decided to tear as well and in Hawaii you never know when it's going to rain. So I needed to replace my top again, but was hesitent to repeat what happened on the last one. This time I went with a new top and a whole new frame assembly. It's got the springs on it so you don't have to worry about the elastic straps wearing out.

If this car is going to be something you are going to hang onto then I recommend you do the frame swap too. If you do go the conversion route just be careful to look for any sharp edges.

I'm so glad I read this. Especially from ltweintz's post. I think I'll just save my money and live with the 24/7 foggy rear plastic piece a while longer.

Good thing the weather has been nice lately, lots of topless driving~
