So here is a little recap of my vacation:

Saturday - arrived in Charlotte, NC - rode to Asheville to visit the Builtmore House (largest private residence in the US)

Sunday - nothing special - practiced golf, relaxed went to dinner party with friends.

Monday - practiced golf

Tuesday - Went to Raleigh to visit friends.

Wednesday - Helped pack gift bags and practiced golf

Thursday - Day 1 of the tourney - getting to play Pinehurst No. 2 (host of the 1999, 2005, and 2014 US Open)

Friday - Day 2 of the tourney - Pinehurst No. 6

Saturday - Day 3 (final) of the tourney - Pinehurst No. 5

Sunday - ?

Monday - Return to PDX

So how did you do in the tournament?

 

The tourney is 3 days - based on Stableford Points (Bogie=1 Par =2 Birdie =3 Eagle =4)
Each round is a different format.
Today we played best ball.
Tomorrow we play Scramble
Saturday we play Alternate Shot

The field is made up of 18 flights with 8 teams per flight. The flights are based on team handicap.

We finished at 39pts in 3rd place in our flight 3 pts out of first.

I will share updates tomorrow after the round.

seems like a hell of a golf weekend...how many players on a team?

 

It is a 2 man team (yes Men only, there is a women's Member / Guest Tourney also) I am playing on a team with my dad.

There are 144 teams (288 men) playing on all 3 courses each day.

They anounced last night there are members here from 27 states with guests from 35 states from Oregon to Maine.

 

Update - we did not play all that well, I could not hit my driver to save my life today, but we were able to pick up 42 points for a total of 81. We are still in 3rd place 4 points out behind 1st and 1 pt behind 2nd.
