I'm working on a new project and could use some input from the forum.
What I'm planning to do is to produce a free-standing "S" car emblem that would replace the stock Honda H on our cars.
I have the basic form completed:
...
The outer edge would be chrome and the interior of the S would be recessed and with a pebble-finish. The owner could then use touch-up paint to apply his own body color, or red, or black, etc. to the recessed area.
One of the first problems I ran into was that the front and rear emblems are the same size but have different pin locations. The front emblem has a pin spacing of 3/4" and the rear emblem has a spacing of 7/8".
I "think" I can make a common emblem that will fit both the front and rear body holes, but I'm not sure.
So the question is - should I pursue producing a single S emblem with pins that will fit both the front and rear body holes, or should I ignore that and just produce an emblem that has double-sided tape?
I know when I test fit mine that the rear H will fit the front holes - but it cannot have the plastic clips - if that makes sense. It would be nice to have a single, but worry about it falling off without the pegs to help hold it in place.
I wouldn't think you'd have to worry about it falling off if you used the right adhesive. I mean that 3M stuff is all that holds the side S2000 logo on.
