which of those wagons would be the most reliable and least expensive to up keep?

850R
You can find mint ones with less than 100k on them for around $6500 (not bad for a 11-12 year old car that cost $45k new). They share parts with all the other 850's so parts are cheap and they have 240 hp, full leather, sunroof, full power, and some of them even have a small 3rd row seat.

Jay, I have both the S as my daily driver and an '04 C70 as mama's daily driver. 5cyl turbo packs more of a punch than you might think. Seats are by far the most comfortable things on the road. We just picked it up 6 months ago with 20K on it at a very reasonable cost.

The car is for me, and the operative phrase in your post was "mama's daily driver."

^^Haha... Be aware that VW is lowering their warranty from 4yr 50k to 3yr 36k.
I say get the 328i. You wont regret it . Its no slouch. Your a grown ass man...no need for a kiddie GTI IMHO.
Yeah...I am aware of the change in the length of the warranty...that is a factor that might argue in favor of an A3.

I think that the wagon option doesn't make too much sense since we already have a Pilot.

Besides I would probably rather have the regular 2.0 litre FSI A4 Avant. For even less, I could get a 2.0 litre Passat Variant and equip it with a sport of luxury package.

i say get a used saab 9-2x areo.

this is the same car me and josh suggested bill should buy. they were only sold in 05 and 06 and u can get one for under 15k easy maybe even under 10k. they are much cheaper to get then subaru's cuz less people know about them and most people that want them want the subaru not the more upscale looking saab version. josh says he has seen them go very cheap at auction.

its basically a wrx wagon with sti suspension, a nicer interior and better looking exterior.

trust me lots of fun to drive, very practical and a very nice European upscale interior.

if you want a little better millage get the linear model which is the non-turbo engine basically a regular impreza wagon with wrx suspension.

whatever you do, DONT BUT NEW!
