There are two groups that run locally:
http://www.martinsportscarclub.net/
http://www.cfrsolo2.com/

The 2012 schedules should be up for SCCA soon, and Martin typically runs their events on the second weekend of the month.

If you are headed to one let me know, you are more than welcome to come for a ride, and I'll ensure you get a good instructor for the day.

Had no idea there was an event in Geneva. I'll definitely have to head out to it one of these days. Are there any membership/registration requirements in order to join? I've only ever been out to CFRC.

Membership isn't required, but if you do enough events its well worth it as you get a discounted entry fee.=

I'm not a fan of CFRC at all, it scares the crap out of me. I've personally seen two cars get totaled out there are autocross events (one went into a lake, another into a wooden post). I drop by occasionally just because I live 10 mins away, but only to spectate. The SCCA and Martin events are considerably safer, and much better run. Plus, there are drivers that are nationally competitive, and are more than willing to help you improve your driving skills.
Out of curiosity, do you have a red AP1 with gold badges?

Ah, when I went to CFRC I watched a guy in a red civic plow through a wooden post as well. I'm probably still going to go out there just to get some seat time though having an experienced driver with some tips/tricks would be really beneficial. I can only learn so much from my GT5 driving setup.

& nope, don't have a red AP1. I have a Silverstone AP2 that I picked up a little over a week ago.

This is random but CFRC has a road course I think. Its 35 bucks and you can run whenever you want. They host it once a month.

Central Flordia course is a joke and really dangerous. I ran the first one they did several years ago, and won't ever go back. Check out the local events in deltona and orange county convention. IMO

Congrats on the s2k purchase!
I think I had heard about the Civic. That place is so sketch. I'd suggest that if you do go there, you drive well within your limits. A bad day out there could be really expensive.
Hopefully I'll see you out at some local events. Like Biohazard said, the events at the Convention Center are great.
