Default New S2k owner

Just got an S2k the other day, been browsing the forums and you all seem like pretty cool people. Thought I'd introduce myself, I'm sure I'll have a couple of questions down the road. I have had 2 miatas, 3 mr2 spyders, and i must say i like this car more than the other 2 besides the gas mileage and the cornering(dont get me wrong it handles like its on rails, but the mr2 definitely has the s2k stock) its a silver 2000 with 145k, plan on doing a valve adjustment next week, and putting some minor mods on and a tune next month for now. Any recommendations on a good tune at a good price?

well the fact that is a model from 00-05 you will need a stand alone ecu (kpro, aem, or haltech) going to cost a lot of money to get that all worked out. personally, i have haltech and recommend it above the rest. welcome and are you in orlando?

yeah, I figured id need an ecu. I threw a CEL last night, p0301 misfire in cylinder 1, going to change the plugs and wires on Friday and do a valve adjustment, good place to start and it never hurts. I love this car, just replaced the speakers last night. My girlfriend loves it too, we're a very social couple and certainly plan on attending as many meets as our jobs will allow us to attend. Can't wait to meet you guys, and see the s2ks you're working with.
oh and yes we're in Lake Mary, but always willing to drive.

Welcome. Lake Mary is close to me, I'm in Orange City. Our cars don't have ignition wires but we do have coil packs. I would say change the plugs and maybe a valve adjustment if it hasn't been done in a while. Look for cracked retainers while in there. AP1's have a tendency to break those if they over rev. Upgrading to AP2 stuff if the usually fix since they don't break. If the miss fire comes back try moving the coil pack from one cylinder to another. If the misfire moves you know that it. If not, do a compression test.

unfortunate medical situations and inclimate weather had prevented me from changing the plugs or even doing a valve adjustment on the car this weekend. I went to the dealer I bought the car from who gladly purchased me some copper autolite spark-plugs(QUALITY PLUGS obviously -_-) they cleared the code, which became a multiple misfire code but has since not come back. making me seem more convinced that it is the spark plugs that need to be replaced. I've been hearing a "clicking" noise kind of like a blinker that's on. but it clicks like once every 5-6 seconds. anyone know what that is?
thanks for all the help and tips guys, you're the best.
