I really wanna check out an auto-X even sometime soon and maybe test my car on it or even better just a practice day at a track would be awesome. Any event coming up soon around here?

www.CFRSOLO2.com

This is who I run with, great group of people. And some very fast drivers. Our next event is Feb 20th in Geneva.

Geneva is a great place, lots of room, pavement is great, and it is fairly close.

THIS.

And since you're new to the racing scene here in Central Florida, DO NOT GO TO CENTRAL FLORIDA RACING COMPLEX.

I agree. Go to an auto-x. Lots of skilled folks there and even better with an S2000 racer like Speedy

You guys should stop bashing the CFRC guys man. I went there all last year and have 0 complains. I understand that 2 years ago it was not the same and some members got a shitty deal on the road course but the person that runs the Auto X does it very well.
To start off this is not a rip on you or anyone that attends their events. These are concerns that we have with the track itself and their staff.

It was not just one event that turned us sour, it was all of them for about 1.5 years.

We attended numerous events out there, road course days, autox, night autox duals, everything except for the drag racing. Throughout the time we were there we were trying our hardest to make it work. Trust me, it was awesome knowing there was a nice race complex only miles away from us. When we would speak to the owner, he didn't want to hear one thing we said, and we were very very professional about it.

Some of the complaints:

First couple events - there were NO fire extinguishers anywhere on site. Not one.

They were using barrels as turn points, seriously?

High speed corners were using the lunch area as an apex. Want a car flying past you at 60mph mid corner while you're enjoying your hotdog?

No barriers or cushions for major turns.

No barriers separating spectators AND GO KART tracks! An Audi R8 ended up in the go kart tracks WHILE THERE WERE GO KARTS during our last event.

Promised x hours of track time only to get 1/3 of that.

Poor management.

Poor staffing.

Basically what I'm getting at is that safety is not there number one concern, ITS MONEY!! Don't question it one bit!

SCCA, NASA, Martin, Chin Motorsports, Safe Motorsports - their NUMBER 1 Concern is SAFETY.

There are countless posts about CFRC. Please look it up if you're so inclined. If you wish to race there, be my guests. I, and SEVERAL other Central Florida S2ks are against that place with many more reasons than listed above.

Believe me, we wanted nothing more than to have the place change and work for us.

You should also check Martin Sports Car Club.

I run with both SCCA and Martin, and would be more than happy to have you come for a few runs if you would like.

What would you NEED to attend an event such as this? A dot helmet and fresh tank of gas?

SCCA and Martin have loaner helmets available for free, so you really dont need your own helmet.

Just bring a car that is in good shape and safe, some blue painters tape for numbers, and show up fresh and rested. The last SCCA event at deland we got 8 runs, and I really enjoy the compitition. But even if it is your first time you can run in Novice and learn the ins and outs of autocross. Let me know if you going and meet me at the event, I will ride along with you and give you pointers, I can also drive your car to show you what it can do, or you can ride in mine to see how the course is run all out.

Speedy, you planning on going to Geneva the 20th?

You should think about hitting up Brooksville sometime. I ran over there for the first time and had a blast. The surface reminds me of Sebring (old runway), tons of grip. We got 6 competition runs and then basically unlimited fun runs at the end of the day. It was well worth the drive, which was actually only 15 mins further than deland from my place. The only downside is that you have to remember to preregister 2 weeks in advance, which sucks.
