Default Thinking about moving to Orlando

Hey guys,
I was thinking about moving out of LA to possibly Denver, Co or Orlando, FL. I like Orlando because it doesnt get extremely cold in the winter as denver, but the only problem i have with orlando is the theft with s2ks. Whats a decent area to live in or around Orlando? Im thinking about getting an apartment. So many questions. Should I get a hardtop or sell the S? Also, big ?: whats the cost of living in and around orlando (ie:food, gas, retail, etc). I know housing is really good right now if your just looking to buy. Any help would be much appreciated. Thx

David,

S2k theft happens in even the nicest neighborhoods around Orlando. Make sure you have full insurance coverage. If you are getting an apartment, make sure you get one with a garage. This is a must. S2k's in apartment complexes either get partially or completely stolen. Even last night, 5 cars got torched at an apartment complex near Universal Studios. WOFL....5 cars torched.
If you are buying or renting a house, park it in the garage!!!

Sell the S? I wouldn't think of it!!! Get a hardtop if you don't mind giving up the drop top convenience. First and foremost, get a paging alarm with proximity detection to deter theft. A hardtop and seat locks will not be a bad idea also. Stitch, etch, engrave and label your vin multiple times to any part that may get stolen so that you may claim them at the station, if they are recovered.

Also, be careful where you park your car. There have been several reports of damage and theft in the downtown parking garages and even in the airport parking garage.

Good luck in your endeavor........To me, Denver doesn't sound too bad right now.

Dont do it man you live in Gods country. Your driving may be seasonal but your roads atleast have curves. LOL Dont get me wrong we have some good old country roads that have curves. But nothing like mountain roads.

The cost of living in central Florida is relatively low (definitely lower than LA), although I can only compare to where my job has taken me along the east coast. Orlando has about a million suburbs that are close enough to enjoy the city but far enough removed to be safer and quieter, IE: Sanford to the east, Clermont to the west, and Leesburg area (where I live) to the north. Good luck with your decision, however you must consider the extreme FL weather as much as you consider the extreme in Denver. Almost every day for the last week has been at least 80 at night, up to 100 by noon, and hurricanes after that!

OK, having lived in both places, I have a question for you, what do you dislike the most, very hot weather or cold weather?
It gets very hot in Orlando!! and very humid!!' and stays that way from June thru September!
It gets cold in Denver, but only for days or weeks at a time. it frequently gets in the 60's in January. I'm not saying it's warm, just not extremely cold.

As far as cost of living, Orlando is probably cheaper, Denver has more artistic events, shows, concerts, etc... I can't speak to the night life...
But i'm sure there is plenty of that in both places... As well as numerous restaurants and cafes...

Denver is all about the outdoors, there are tons of organized activities from baseball to ski clubs and evertything in between! It also rates as one of the healthiest cities in America...

Orlando, is more about tourism, vacations and of course Golf...

I think either is a great place to live! I'm sure you will have fun which ever you choose!
