It's a valid point that the Villages and other areas like it "suck out" a large number of elder people that would otherwise be contributors to society back where they're from.

...but you know what? It's their life, and if they'd rather live out the end of it in sunny Florida, so be it.

actually ... the Villages of Lady Lake is an incredibly ACTIVE community. Yes, retired folks are prominent but they are always doing something. They have 2 'town squares' now with shopping, restaurants and theatres. It really is a good time for just about anyone and a great place for group drives (LOTS of scenic roads).

I go to the Villages regularly. The shoppes and restaurants are typically cleaner and more consistent than those in Ocala.

oh ... and the STD issue is real. Lucky rascals!

Did anyone read the article in the Sentinel about the book which discusses the Villages? Apparently, several of the residents don't care for the way the book treated the community.
