Calabogie Motorsport....
Not sure how many "track heads" in Ottawa, but it seems that the Calabogie track is set to be open by next spring/summer. Pretty cool, as this is what I have been wanting to try since buying my S.
Who plans to go when it opens? Anyone else on here pumped about it? It's so close to us folks in Ottawa

Not to be pessimistic but I was excited for it to open this summer as the Toronto Guys were as well. Plans were for it to open but there were some glitches and money issues and it got delayed and delayed. I got a chance to drive the track in my SUV last fall when one of my customers was doin construction on it. It should open some time next year but I wouldn't get too excited now!
You should head down to Shannonville Megaclisse or Mosport if you want a taste of tracking!

After reading their site it gave me the impression that they are almost ready. Talking with a few others, they say they have been hearing the same thing for a while now.
You guys are right, doesn't look like it will be ready until late next year.

I'm itching for them to complete, but I've heard some bad rumours. Essentially, the $$$ for paving is an issue and the owners are either having second thoughts or the anti-track residents are making a $$$ offer to get the owners to just develop a resort without the track. BTW, a track group I'm in has an early date reserved for Calabogie, whenever it happens.
Shannonville is the default home track for now. It's a good learner's track. It has a lot of tight technical turns and is perfectly flat with no blind corners. There is a SAAB driving school that accepts convertibles happening in Oct.

Mecaglisse is very small and tight, short like autocross+. What it has going for it though is elevation changes. Pretty cool when the car gets light over the hill.
Mosport is a "real" track. Probably a little unsafe for beginners that don't have fear. Haven't driven it yet.
There's also Mount Tremblant, Mosport DDT, Sanair, Watkin's Glen, (I think Limerock) and that other one on Sports Car Revolution that are within the 5 hour drive range.

And dude, you owe me a helmet cam recording at Watkins Glen in '06.
I'm still mad at ya for turning off your VCR...

I think that could be done. But that takes planning, especially now that I'm more or less employed. Damn working for a living
BTW, the latest I've heard. There is money, it just still sitting on a desk waiting for final provincal approval. The owners don't want to push and bug the guys to get even slower pushing the paper.
