Default Visit to Ottawa

It looks like I will be visiting Ottawa (probably) in February for business. I have done this since 1999 and generally stay a few blocks from Parliament Hill and being somewhat of a creature of habit find my self eating dinner at The Keg down in the Byward Market. As I do not have a car during my brief trip (generally only a day and a half). I was curious if anyone had any other suggestions for dinner within walking distance of the Hill?

BTW, I love your Capital City.

Try "Milestones". They offer some good food and a great ambiance. Only a 2 min walk from the hill, accross from The Chateau Laurier hotel. If you decide to go into the market you also have "18" a lounge bar type atmoshpere, "Kinki" which has great sushi and accross the street from "18".

Those would be my picks.

It depends on what you are into.

Ottawa has a decent variety of different ethnic restaurants.

Lots of good Vietnamese for inexpensive.
Lots of Schwarma joints for inexpensive also.
Mama Teresa's is always good for Italian
Beckta Wine Bar- (make reservations) is probably one of Ottawa's highest regarded restaurants
Coriander Thai- one of my favorites
Elgin Street diner- awesome breakfast.

I could go on and on I just need to do some more thinking.

All recommended are downtown.

The problem with The Keg is that you will have a meal that you could get anywhere. I'd suggest Domus on Clarence Street, which is less than a 5 minute walk from Parliament Hill. The emphasis there is on Canadian cuisine and the food is excellent, so you will get a real gastronomic sense of place there. Beckta used to be better until a change of chefs, and it is more comfortable (less ambient noise) than Domus, but is farther away.
