Default Window tinting in Ottawa

hey guys....I was wondering if you guys could please help clarify what the legal limit for tinting is in Ontario? Also have any of you guys had your car done and where could you reccomend?

I have been thinking about it for some time. I don't want to go limo dark, but I would like to go a decent amount. The only downside is not seeing people when you are driving at night.

I think legal is 35% (on front windows) which is pretty much what we already have stock

Most people go 20% with no problems, I think it is at the descretion of the cops just like everything else though.

Here is a reference I googled. Looks like it is mostly police officer's choice.

According to that there is no law? So it's totally up to the officer

I think having my windows tinted 20% would look sweet but I'm reluctant. Of course it doesn't really matter much if the top is down all the time

That was my thought. If you buy a convertible, when would you ever see the tint?

In ontario there is no hard number....its officer's discrection. If he can't see in, its too dark.

I know there aren't many times that you have the windows up when the top is down, but when the hardtop is on the windows are up pretty much all the time. I think I'm going to shop around and see what the cost is. I can't imagine it being much because of the size of the windows and only being left right the rear and maybe the windshield to 15%.

You can't do the windshield, only the VERY top part is allowed.

I know only the top part to help a bit when driving in the sun otherwise the windsheild must be completely clear
