Aodhan- The differences between the two cars you're looking at is essentially the color, just make sure you have whichever car you choose to buy checked out at a honda dealership and carfaxed as well.

Just as reference, the differences between the MY01 and MY02 cars are: 1)glass window in the soft top (and a defroster for that window), 2)tweeters in the door panels, 3) little mesh cargo pockets in the bottom of the doors, 4)the center console is covered in leather rather than carpet, 5) bigger H badges front and rear, and 6) most importantly, the 02/03 ecu's run more aggressive timing which yields a little bit more than the 00/01.

if you have any more questions, please feel free to ask

Thank you that was the kind of info i was looking for. Have a honda dealership check them out is the first thing i plan on doing as well as car fax.

next question, is Frontline in Bellevue a decent place to buy a S2k, I would much prefer to purchase from a Honda Dealership, but at the last check no Honda dealership near by had one. Is it worth waiting for one to get in a S2k?

Oh and whats the annual maintance on these fun cars?

Not really any different than any other Hondas -- so far. Very few of them have been driven upwards of 100K miles yet, so if there are any hidden timebombs they have not yet been found.

One difference is that they require 91+ octane fuel, so the gas bill is quite a bit steeper than for a Civic.

7) The 2002s have revised spring, damper, and sway bar tuning which makes them a little less bitey at the limit than the earlier cars.

I tested a few but my00 which I bought has the most roughest but enjoyable ride and probably the most raw for those who like it rough The later years are more refined but nothing major in terms of power or styling changes. Little things like glass windows, lower redline, more power in lower RPMS then higher etc.

I always see at least two S2000s at Frontline... must be a hot seller there.

Don't forget the tire budget. It's substantial. You'll get anywhere from 12k to 20k mi. on your rear tires depending on lots of things. Fronts are say 15k to 30k mi. The OEM S02s are expensive ($170ish? dunno, never bought one). You can go to a cheaper, longer lasting tire, but then what's the point of having an S2000? (Apearance, I suppose, if you're into that)

yup tires and $$$. but i'm to the point now where the OEM S-02s are a bargain and for Ray... it's a pratically a giveaway

if stock wheels, oem s-02s are the ONLY way to go. too often i see funky kumhos and yokos and all this other stuff on them 16s and i cringe.
