Default Any Interest In A "Trade Services for Services" Thread?

Well as i was browsing around this wonderful site, I seen a lot of members/guests interested in a plethora of different services, which got me thinking.

With some of us, money tends to hold us back from doing certain things that we would love to get done. Whether it be around the house, to our cars, really anything that unfortunately isn't always accomplished because of the lack of funds. With so many people on this site, would it even be worth trying? I'm talking about a "you scratch my back and i scratch yours" kind of deal. I know that it's a certain risk, but as long as no laws were broken, it seems like it could work. I've done this on other sites with great success. Now i'm not exactly selling anything, so i wouldn't be necessarily a vendor. Any work being discussed between two parties, would of course be between two parties. Correct me if i'm wrong here.

Maybe who ever could be interested could post what they needed/wanted done, and what service they could offer in trade. Just an idea to save all of us a little cash that could go to other places, like our families/children. Any generated interest?

I personally do Carpenter/Concrete work, and could work under my bosses license as well. That way the work would be under a licensed and insured company for piece of mind. Anything from garage floors, patios, driveways, walkways, curbs, retaining walls and anything else you could imagine being done in concrete. Also with a multitude of finishes ie: broom, hard trowel (smooth), stamped, exposed aggrigate, acid stained and again more.

Now i am not 100% positive that this wouldn't be breaking any rules pertaining to s2ki.com, but just an idea. It really is just a "shot in the wind" or so to speak. Any body who has any suggestions, concerns, input ect are encouraged to respond.

Thanks everybody. -Mike

Sounds like an awesome idea, I'm sure it will take a few brave souls to take a leap and try this out, but over time should build some credibility.

I myself am going to school at South Seattle Community College and about to graduate this June. Going to school for Automotive Collision. I am no Chip Foose but have a mindset of someone with OCD when it comes to details on a car. I have a small portfolio of past work I have done from from bumper repair to complete paint job.

If interested shoot me a PM. I could definitely use help on fixing my motor lol

Well that's definitely a great start gentlemen!

I think if we all just list what we have to offer, this could be very useful to people who could use the help. I agree with "taking the leap" but would like to think most of our community are good, honest, hard working people. I know personally i could definitely use help with body and paint, as i think most of us could at times unfortunately.

Even if it turns out to but useful information we could provide eachother, it's a win win either way! In more ways than one this kind of idea will get your name out to the community, and it's up to you to build that reputation. I know plenty of guys that made a simple post of what they do for a living on here, now he said he has to turn his phone off at times because it gets to be too much.

Thanks for the positivity guys, as stated in the original post, any ideas ect are encouraged!

Many of us end up doing this with our closer friends in the club anyway as we have built some trust and established some relationships, but yeah I think this is a good idea, and for a thread to advertise

Well this is a way to get into being closer with the guys who have beautifully built cars (Junky) , and get the insight from the long time members whose words and guidance should be trusted.

While i'm no mechanic genius, i find myself to be pretty good with cars as well as carpentry/concrete. No i can't rebuild/swap your motor, but i can show you where your dipstick and oil fill are .

On a more serious note, i can help with maintenance on anything from our s2k's to diesel's. I know most of you know how to do maintenance as well, but those who don't, feel free to pm me. Also i get a company discount through O'rielly's if anybody needs great priced parts, detail products, and anything else you may need from an auto part store.

For those of you in the local Portland area, or are willing to travel to meet for a cup of coffee or lunch first, could have one more added bonus is i have a huge two car garage and a decent amount of tools as well. Any of you that need cover, or a place to wrench on your own cars, you can also pm me.

Thanks again guys

haha, strictly speaking of your avatar pic. However i do have a pretty loaded garage in terms of pressure washer, detail products, shop vacuum, and more. That goes without stating that i do not specialize on baby blow outs.

I guess i could have posted this for the Oregon owners, since they are more convenient but i wanted to reach more guys. I know if one of you had something i was interested in, i would have no problem making the drive.

I would be interested in just about anything for our s2k's from performance to oem, car stereo equipment (I can do equipment installs as well if any of you need help with that), paint and body work, and more. Pm with ideas.

Have a great weekend guys
