Anybody going for a drive weekend?

The weather tends to be on the better side out there.

Sorry about that guys... The weather didn't clear up until 3pm and I was having trouble thinking of places to go.
Thanks for the responses, though... I promise we will get together for a drive shortly.

Matthews Cellars is one of the more premier small wineries in the state. Matt Luso is the winemaker. The signature wine is the Yakima Valley Red, about $45/bottle. This weekend I picked up six bottles of his syrah and six bottles of his "second wine" which he calls Claret ($25/bottle). Second wines are less expensive blends made with the wine that didn't get into the premier blend. The Red is usually 70-80% cabernet, the Claret is usually merlot dominated.
My other favorite winery in Woodinville is DeLille. They make two priemier reds ($50/bottle), a second wine red, a Bordeaux-style white, and a syrah. Their second wine (called D2) is also merlot dominated.
Another winery in the area that I like is Betz Family Winery. They are perhaps best known for their syrahs.
Ste Michelle makes some good wines at good prices too. If you join their Vintage Reserve Club you can sometimes get some great deals. Their Columbia Crest label is an especially good value.
But wines are like cars -- everybody's tastes are different. Also like cars, once you get into the more expensive realms you start paying a lot for rarity, branding, and very expensive small-batch production techniques.
If you want a really good Merlot, I suggest you try Ste Michelle's Reserve Merlot. You can taste it at the winery if you make reservations for the Vintage Reserve Tasting Room You get four selections of reserve wines for about $5/person.
