I must be the only car guy out there who doesn't like the E36 M3. Never liked the way it looked... the front looks like a cheap post-accident chop job, and while the track numbers are respectable, the two coupes and one sedan I drove were wholly uninspiring and dull.

I dug the E46 and thought it was a blast when I drove it - couldn't get enough, and would love to pick one up someday (after school is done). But the E36 just seemed like bollocks to me.

Plenty of E30 M3 owners who never warmed up to it (or to any other "fake" M3, for that matter).

I've always wanted to try out an E30 but they're a bit harder to come by... most of the cars I've driven were trade-ins, lease returns, auction finds, etc. when I sold cars. If it's anything like the MBZ 190E (which I *have* driven), then I'd probably like it. I just don't understand why the E36 seems like a holy grail to so many people... I remember when I used to post on the VWVortex (when I had a 'dub), that was the car to have.

That's scary.

This was the BMW 3-series when I was 12.
