Back in Another S2000
Hey folks, as many of you know, my car came to an unfortunate demise about a month ago (https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=809765). I've been looking for another S2000 since the day of the accident (https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=812887), and finally found one.
The story goes...
Since combing the classifieds for another S2000, this beat-up-looking Laguna Blue '06 S2K w/80k miles kept popping up (http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/ctd/1948602771.html). I would see it posted every day in different areas (Seattle, Bellingham, Olympic Peninsula, etc.). It was too the point where I was getting really irritated. I kept thinking "no one wants your high-mileage, grill/liner-lacking POS." I almost wanted to e-mail them to ask them to stop posting so much. I watched the car drop almost $2k in asking price on it's own while I checked out other cars which were either disappointing or overpriced. Meanwhile, I've been eying a certified pre-owned Rio '06 AP2 and planned on buying it yesterday. Last Friday night though, I'm out with some friends, and one of my buddies mentions that he checked out that Laguna Blue AP2 @ Biddle Chev. I'm like "yeah, that thing is a POS, not gonna waste my time." He goes "it's actually got 48k, and it's not as bad as the pictures make it look. Just go look at it" So Saturday (yesterday) comes around and I call up Anthony/Twanny425 because he agreed to drive my Subie back if I bought the car in Aberdeen. I pick him up and go "let's just stop by Biddle on the way out, if it's nasty, we can keep going." We get there, and it turns out, the car is indeed not that bad. The odometer reads 48k (they switched it to km on accident when writing the ad), all the VIN tags match, and it runs / drives good. There are quite a few issues with the front bumper, but all the liners are new or intact and there are only a few dings around the car. It also had AP2 V1's which makes me nervous, but whatever. I haggle with the salesman a bit, but the car talked itself down so much that there wasn't much room to play with and I end up taking it for a pretty good price. I also let them know that the ads probably turned people off from even looking at it. I take the car after they give it a bath and a new battery and begin another S2000 adventure

(yes, I did throw it around at a PGP Lap Attack with less than 24 hours of ownership on it)

Lap times aside, the car didn't do too bad today. The tires are some crappy Toyos with 245's up front for some reason. It was fun to slide around but w/a treadwear rating of 300, there's no grip to be had. The e-throttle definitely isn't as snappy as a cable throttle, but I can live with it. Everything mechanical seemed to do okay w/today's shakedown so I'm satisfied for now.
There are some things I need to take care of - interior pieces are broken, front bumper needs a respray, etc., but overall, it's not bad. Time to throw on all my parts from the red one so it's ready for the 22nd (PGP lapping day).
Thanks for reading, stay tuned for a WTB thread!
