Go to http://www.baer.com/bedding_street/ for proper rotor break-in procedure
I think they refer to it as Seasoning the rotor

Thanks for the info RT. So tell me if I am thinking along the right lines here:
Saturday, I will replace the rotors but not the pads. I will follow the procedure for seasoning the rotors (steps 1-3).
Sunday, steps 4-5.
Monday, swap out my pads and follow the bedding procedure.

Does that sound right? I am rather concerned about using my old pads on my new rotors. I mean I can hear them grinding a little now and I don't want to create grooves on my new rotors. Plus there is a LOT of oil on the rotors (smells like WD-40), do I need to do anything to them to get it off before hand? I know that they will probably get more than hot enough to burn off anything on there.

Thanks again for all the info guys

I don't think you should run the old pads on the new rotors. Use the new pads to "season" the rotors then bed the pads post seasoning. I don't think you'll mess up the new pads, seems to me you can bed pads whenever as long as you don't burn them up all at once without a heat cycle. I don't know for sure though, I'm not the brake expert, just reading the stuff same as you

Yeah thats what I am thinking. The two procedures are very similar. I would think that putting in the new rotors and new pads in at the same time and just run through the all of the procedures over the 3 days.

I might give Acura a call to find out what they say about it. I mean think of all of the people that get new rotors & pads at the same time and I bet Acura (nor the consumer) does the proper break in procedure.

I should create a service that seasons rotors for people. Wonder how much I could charge

Sure, I'll charge you to "season" the rotors on my car. Its the least I could do.

Gentleman,

You guys are in the Northwest area!? Awesome. For the last few weeks, I thought none of the other NW s2k owners were ever on this board because everyone keeps talking about being from califronia : ) I'm pleasantly surprised to find that I was wrong.
<<Slightlty Off Topic>>
Are there any meets or NW S2k clubs? I haven't seen a NW chapter on the forum. I'd be very interested too meet up with you guys in any s2k events or for lunch/dinner to partcipate in car talk. My schedule is fairly flexible, if anyone could mail or me me, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Actually there is a very visible and active club in the PacNW. The main body of participating owners are right here in Seattle. Feel free to contact me with any questions. We holds meets on regular basis. At least monthly. The group just met last weekend for a drive to the Tulip Festival (sans Tulips unfortunately) and we have another meet coming up this Thrusday at Bellevue Honda.
