Default Cheap Autocross......

Green River Community College Skills USA VICA program is putting on an autocross. Entry is $10 and there will be awards for the fastest times.

Come out and have fun. The times before that we have done this have gone very well, and lots of good competition.

Location: GRCC parkinglot.
Date: June 4th
Time: Starts at 3 PM
Cost: $10.00

wow sounds fun. I've never autocrossed before so this is a good chance for me to imbaress myself infront of people I don't know.

BTW any tips for newbie @ autox?

I'm gonna bring a air guage, hopefully can get a air pump
-Gonna bring a helmet.
-remove spare/tools
-going to run ~1/4 tank

  • Until you figure out what you're doing (takes some people years ), put the car in second and leave it there.

  • Be gentle with your inputs. Don't wait until the last second then jerk the steering or slam on the brakes -- anticipate what you'll have to do next and use smooth hand and foot inputs. Note: smooth does not necessarily mean slow.

  • Do your braking in a straight line and get back on the gas before you start your turns. Try not to lift off of the throttle in mid-corner, and really avoid braking in mid-corner. Both are recipes for spins.

  • Put a little more air in your tires -- at least mid-thirties.

  • Have fun!
