I always thought GPW would look cool with the black inner headlight housings painted body color too...
Smoked JDM's on GPW would look pretty clean as well with smoked sidemarkers and black chrome emblems.
Is it me or does painting the black plastic in the inside lights (body color) not look right on the s2k?? When I see members do it, it looks good and matches but just doesn't seem right... I feel the same way about the new vettes. Their lights look cheap with the matching body color.
-imho-only way to pull off matching body color lights is if you have a prancing pony on your hood
it's clear that it's been tinkered with and the smalless of the s2000 lights in comparison to the vette and the ferrari... just makes it look plain bad.
i used to think it'd look cool, but now i'd never think of doing it.
i personally think the new vettes look awesome... their headlights are of similar size to the ferraris.. ferrari did it up best though .... the vette and ferrari are both much wider cars than teh s2000 which is one of the reasons why they can "pull it off".
as for the white, you gotta go JDM white clears. clear side markers. putting in the smoked just makes certain parts stick out more... instead of one whole unified body. i don't liked the smoked clears in general. they look violet smoked (nothing against your car JD).
and boy it's a biznitch to swap those things back out to the point where it's just not worth it.
i remember a couple of years ago when i shipped my entire headlights to w1ngman across the country and my car was sitting on jacks in the garage without a front bumper for over a week.
i guess it was all worth it because my headlights look great and work great to this day
i only notice a hint of violet in certain light conditions. definitely not enough to make me regret it. in fact I think it is still one of the best ways to improve the look of the AP1.
Your point about the vette and ferrari's bein wider to pull off the look may be the reason why I don't like the way the vette looks on paper. I still haven't seen them in person yet to appreciate the subtle changes in body style.
I especially remember when the s2k's first came out, I thought they looked uninspiring and especially plain. Only when I stood in front of one did I realize how wide and flared the front fenders looked. (one of the best angles of the car).
I do think more car manufacturers are going with body paint matching lights, and just as the Lexus Altezza lights became the big rage with every civic and accord clearing our their back headlights, it seems the more I see body matching headlights, the cheaper they look to me.
