so i guess we can't get an enhanced driver license since we live in california and i checked with the dmv and they offer no such service. Hate to be a broken record but they do not stamp the passport on the entry point back into the united states?

i have been back and forth between several countries and have never had my passport stamped. you do realize that you can just call the border and ask them right? or at least google it.

Does either side (US and Canada) even have stamps at the booth?

Probably, but they would not use them for Canadian/US citizens. A European traveler (for example) would probably get a stamp going from BC into Washington, just as they would if they came straight to the US.
