The gauge does jump around as fuel sloshes and when you go up and down hills. Was this just a one-time deal?

I noticed that it also resets the bars if you re-tighten the fuel cap...(letting air in the tank)

I've usually driven around 275 miles when my light goes on with 1 or 2 bars left, is this normal?

What I do is rely on how many miles I've driven, I think that's better than relying on bars...

I get about 90 miles before I run dry.

It all depends on your driving style.

nooo it wasnt a one time deal out of the norm it jumped up and stayed there even on a flat surface. I tried to shut it off and turn it on again and still had the same measurment. only when I refilled it did it go back down and then go to full tank but it's still off when it goes to low again I should be like 1-2 bars left and im at 5 im certain of it.

I've experienced a bit of fluctuation as well but usually its only one or two bars. Anything more than that is usually because i park on a hill and it seems to correct itself after driving a few miles anyway.

300 miles a tank is the norm for me

I'm sure I'm past that, and I don't get that many miles per tank. I get right about 300 only if all my miles are freeway, like when I drive to CA or Pullman. Otherwise I seem to get around 250 max.
