AAArgh! Damn it. I knew the game was lost when it went into OT. Too damn many Huskies with 4 fouls.

Of course, they never would have made it there without Jamal Williams hitting that three-pointer. WTF?!

But how can you let that guy take that 3? He killed them all night long.

At the end of the OT, when they still had a chance, Appleby should have called a TO before ever passing out to Joel Smith. At the very least Smith should have called a TO before throwing the ball away. And that goaltend!

Bad calls from the officials all night long. The double technical was unneccessary, but then again the T against Jim Calhoun was probably an overreaction as well.

^^^

it was a nail biter almost all night. between the ticky-tack fouls - the double technical and the goaltend that was sooooo obvious.

Washington played the game they had to play, with super-agressive defense all game long. The foul situation was a result of that, and it was working. But that double T killed them. They gave 5 or 6 points with Roy out that later cost them the chance to put the game away. Roy missing a crucial late FT also hurt badly.

Bottom line was that Washington had to play perfectly to win this game, and they almost did. But "almost" wasn't quite enough.

Great season.

It was a good ride. Jensen should have made sure that guy didn't score when he fouled him.

Those UConn threes were brutal though.

And the fifth "foul" on Dentman? The dude stepped wrong on his ankle and fell over. Dentman never touched him.

Hmmm.... never fails, when the "home" team loses it always seems to be about the officiating.

No, Washington should have won despite the officiating. The officials didn't win the game for UConn. They made some bad calls, but that wasn't the deciding factor -- except maybe for the double-T. That was totally unnecessary, and it gave UConn's good player a third foul but it gave UW's best player a fourth foul. Good refs would have just broken it up without charging a T.

Once they got into OT they were screwed. They played tough D for forty minutes and picked up too many fouls because of it -- they couldn't play any D in OT.

Appleby had an open shot to win the game in regulation, and he missed it. Roy had a FT in regulation that would have won the game, and he missed it (made the second, though). And they needed to let anybody but Anderson make the final shot -- but Anderson took it.

And no, I meant Jamal Williams. JW had a miraculous three point shot in the last minute or so of regulation time. That was only the second three point attempt he made all year long, and he buried it when it counted.

Jamal Williams was the Washington game MVP, without a doubt.
