Hello everyone, I'm new to the S2K community, but think I should start here since I think I found my previous owner. Just a question to you S2K01, did you sell your vehicle to Vancouver Honda, at least that's where I picked mine up. I'm still in search of the service records for the vehicle, any chance you may still have them or will I have to go to Middlegate to find them? It would be great if you could let me know some details as to the history of the vehicle as well. Don't get the wrong impression, I love the vehicle but just would like to learn more about it. Cheers!

Hey MBS2K (taking liberties with your user name)! Welcome aboard. There are so many new local members lately, but we haven't had much of a chance to meet. Why do you have S2K01 old car? He wants it back... Maybe you can make a little profit??? .

Anyways, things are pretty quiet (given the season), but we are a pretty active bunch in the spring and summer, so stay in touch.

Ah...Home Sweet Home! Thanks for the nice welcome. So it's slow season, I guess i'm a late bloomer then. I've only had the car out on the road for 3 days (it's parked for the winter). Next time it comes out, it's going to the garage (4th gear popout). I've noticed a few postings recommending Westwood Honda. I called them today and they said they've never heard of the problem. They gave me an excuse of, "having to duplicate the problem" before they can fix it (approx 2 hrs repair time). Any suggestions for advice anyone has would be most appreciated. Have a great day

Hmmm... I'm not familiar with the problem either. Is this something that others have reported as be a concern. Typically, the dealerships will require you to demonstrate that there is a problem before they will act on it. It kind of makes sense, because Honda Canada will not pay them to look for problems, they will only pay them to repair problems that have been identified.

This gets frustrating, because you know it is happening, but it is difficult to convince them that it is happening (unless they can see or hear it themselves). I know that if you can reproduce the problem with a mechanic in the car, it should be taken care of right away. If you can't reproduce the problem on command, then you'll have a hard time getting any dealership to spend the money on what THEY consider to be a wild goose chase. Please remember, I am not saying it is a wild goose chase, but to the dealership they might view it that way.

If the problem is intermittent, then your best bet is to look for others who have had a similar problem and print out the details of what the symptoms were and what ultimately was determined to be the cause (and fix). If there are enough examples, the dealership may be able to convince the district service manager to fund the exploratory work that is required.

If no one else has the problem, then your best bet is to send a letter to Honda Canada explaining the problem and how you have tried to resolve it with a dealership. Then explain that you will be keeping a log of future occurrences (date, RPM, Speed, engine temp, etc.). Also explain that since you have done your best to get Honda to address the problem you will be holding them responsible for any further damage that stems from this problem.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice! I realized my case was not an isolated incident after reading the threads people posted on this site. One of the threads was from S2K01, who was the previous owner of the vehicle (that's what I am assuming at least). Anyway, thanks for the help and I will keep the community posted as to how the situation is resolved.

My Baby S2k: Sorry I havent checked back on this board in quite a while now. Yes I traded the car in to Vancouver Honda. You have my baby! j/k. As for service records of the car, all service was done at middlegate honda. The car was babied! Before I traded it in I thought about giving it a rip and doing some doughnuts. But I didnt!, I treated the car like my friend and didnt want to trash it, wanted the new owner to enjoy it too. I really miss my car when i was trading it, kinda sad. And I just recently got new s0'2s (Lucky You hehe).
Just wondering which city you live in (I promise I wont steal it ) If you wanna talk more, email me
phil1019@shaw.ca

I might try and get a s2k after winter, if my car doesnt depreciate too much.
Or maybe 350Z
or maybe G35
or....most likely another s2k!

Anybody know the differences for the 2003 year?
Any major changes i should wait for?

Hey s2k01, what kind of car did you trade your s2000 in for? I tell you, I love my S, but there are sooooo many interesting cars coming out ... It would be a tough decision (but don't you have an "in" at middlegate??? .

I was lost...but now I'm found!!!! Thanks for contacting me S2K01 in regards to your vehicle. I called Middlegate and they said I could pick up the records anytime. I can see you took very good care of the car, not a scratch on the vehicle, amazing

I see you had the 4th gear popout problem too. I will take it into the dealership once spring hits.

As far as the 350Z or G35 is concerned, stick with the S. It is so much more fun to drive. This is coming from someone who is currently driving a Nissan and have owned 2 Z's in the past.

Anyway, gotta go. I'll send you an email S2K01 and we can chat more.
