The Black Chrome badges on the silver with cleared lights freaking looks great. You should tell everyone about the custom street-legal "bulbs", sharpie-boi. When somebody asks whether to use a Heat Gun or the Oven, you can back me up right?

hahahaha...jerry's still pitching his oven-theory!

but honestly, i think the oven makes sense -- an autobody shop did mine so i don't know what they used exactly, although they did 'double seal' the casing to avoid the potential condensation...it's been raining quite a bit here in Vancouver and no problems yet (knock on wood)

No problems here either, but I was so damned anal doing the whole thing... Along with JPit, we are the only four PacNW guys with the cleared out headlights. And there is a reason, this mod is seriously frustrating.

so far in Vancouver, I've only seen one other S2K with the clear headlight mod (other than myself) and I don't think he posts here...he drives a suzuka blue-like s2k, but it's not a 2002 so he must've gotten a custom paint job....

At what temp do you bake the headlights in the oven and for how long?

225 degrees and 15 minutes for the first session. 225 degrees and 5-7 minutes to reheat. The idea is to get the whole assembly warm and gooie so that you only need to pry a portion of the assembly apart. Once you've worked the far corners apart you just need to reheat the whole assembly again until its warm and the whole thing will pull apart.

WRS2K will pipe in at any moment and remind me to put a wet towel under the assembly while its in the oven. Sometimes I have more balls than brains but that is another story.

Using an oven is much better than standing there with a heat gun melting everything and then having a completely mangled assembly that is impossible to put back together. Ask Matt, he experimented with both tecniques and the partial heated actually made it more difficult to reinstall the finished pieces.

USE AN OVEN. Should I post pics in one of the other forums sometime? I totally forgot about all this.
