AutoX is a great way to learn about your car. You won't hurt anything unless you do something really silly. I would recommend it.

Come out to the auto-x. The first time is a little intimidating, but the only way to get good is experience (seat time!).

i think ill go out on the feb 12(not run my self but watch others) and see what its like.....meeting on 12th is very close to my house so... hopfully ill see u guys there... and i can see how the pros do it..

No. Definately do take a driving school if you are so inclined, but it is absolutely not necessary for autox. The driving school will teach you the classroom stuff about car control, but there is no better way to experience it than autox. Keep your eyes open for a beginner practice autox day where you can get some significant seat time.

The car control practice you get in autox will be helpful when you do a driver school and get out on track. Do some karting too.

alfa romeo northwest is having a driving school in February

I took this course last year. It's great for newbies to the S2k. Plus you get to play around with the limits of the car.
