Smile How do you keep cats off your car?

There's a cat in my neighborhood (I think it's just 1) that loves to sleep/eat on my car overnight. Recently, I've noticed cat prints all over my car, cat fur on my top, and even some specs of blood from mealtime!

I've checked online for ways to keep cats off cars and have tried mothballs on and around the car (I put a plastic sheet down to protect the paint and top first, of course). However, the cat just avoids the areas and sleeps in the other areas without the mothballs. I used a whole box of mothballs for godsakes!

I've heard that cayenne pepper also works so I'm going to get a Costco-sized container and go nuts with it.

Do you guys have any other tips for keeping cats off our cars? I don't have the luxury of having a garage and I want to keep the $$ low for a solution. Someone's going to say this so let me preface this by saying that I don't want to kill or shoot the cat either.

I've heard that spraying the cat with water will prevent any future encounters. Unless said cat likes water.

Anyone want to come over to my house for a BBQ? I'll have cat on the menu.

One a more serious note, the cat sleeps on my car at night when I'm asleep so shooting it with something isn't gonna work (I'm not going to camp out in my carport overnight). I also don't know which/who's cat it is b/c I don't see the cat at night.

Any others with this experience? How'd you get the cat off your car??

I used to put stuff on the car cover - cardboard things that were wierd shaped - the cat didn't like it so it stayed off. Now I don't worry as the cat is no longer with us.

Try vinegar. I think cats hate that stuff, spray it down with vinegar.
