I need ap1 knock sensor
Seriously, stay out of it till you get a good knock sensor!
"Sensor not talking" sounds like "no detonation" to the ECU ..... both say leave timing IN!!!!!!!!!!! You fuq around too much and you'll find yourself looking for engine #4 real soon ..... I think you already own the record for needing engine #3 in less than 10,000 miles

Do you think that in the real world driving that you would ever trigger the sensor N/A? I mean you can run the stock timing map on moderate FI applications without detonation. I was running 8-10 psi with a centrifugal for a long time on 8 and never produced any at 10.5psi. The only thing I can think of that may cause a problem on a stock N/A s2000 is if you purchased some horrible contaminated fuel somewhere. Thats never happened to me before but I have heard it does once in a wile. I would be inclined to feel totally safe driving without one N/A until I got a new sensor. Unless there is some other factor i'm not thinking of... oh yes I forgot, Johnny's luck, nevermind, forget what I said.

^^^ other then poor fuel, maint items such as spark plugs or coil, possible map sensor, or excesive heat from racing, All of which would have no bearing on a properly maintianed S on the street. The stock timing map at full advance has proven to be very conservative.
