Yeah, I work for the local Mega-Corporation.

The telemetry I really want would include data on throttle position, rpm, brakes, lateral G's, etc. The data doesn't need to be exact, but close would be fabu. Do you know of any way around speedstepping on x86 laptop processors?

Sounds like a job for OBDII .. which wouldnt be too hard either. G forces would require a few extra sensors. There are a couple of cheap serial <-> OBDII modules you can purchase.

Speedstepping?

One way of conserving power on modern laptops is thru processor speedstepping. The processor will operate at different voltages depending upon how much processor time is requested. Unfortunately, this requires a query routine. If you are playing/capturing video within 75% of the maximum processor capability bad things happen whenever a query occurs. Specifically missing frames. This is a major hurdle to using sub-1ghz laptops and digital cameras for realtime motion capture to the harddrive at maximum resolution. The other issue is harddisk speed, but you can always swap for ones that eats a battery in a minute.

Nobody said the problems in life were easy.

Sounds like you want to be capturing from GPS, OBD II, GEEZ, and DV? Ambitious project... Why not skip the real-time DV, and just do that the old-fashioned way (FireWire capture from tape)? The rest sounds good, though.

For reatime DV I could superimose the data on one video stream. I'll still use firewire to recover footage from the others.

Coming from you that's a compliment. Have you got some free time for a project in two weeks? Its one of those "all day" jobs I could use your assistance with. I got the price you suggested if that tells you everything...

I knew the pulley was going to be a four letter word. I'll start tossing stuff in there when I receive the "Package." Sledgehammer and duct tape if it gets difficult, just like last time.

Mira will go like this the next time I go into VTEC range -->
