Moving to BC - Where?
This is very off topic.
A friend of mine is considering a move to BC from Ontario, however she is a bit confused on what the nice areas are.
She doesn't want to live right in the city per se, but does want some convenience and city facilities such as water, sewers and DSL/Cable service.
She's kinda looking at Vancouver, Chilliwack and Kamloops. She also works in IT.
Any ideas? I've been out west a lot but never paid attention to whats a good or bad area.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

She being a she.... I would recommend Richmond, Burnaby or Vancouver. Stay away from Surrey
There's nothing out in Chilliwack and Kamloops she'll be bore to death if she's still young at heart.
IT - everything is in Vancouver or Richmond. Burnaby is growing slowly, particularly the Lougheed/Boundary area.

Fraser Valley? there's absolutely nothing out there. If she's ready to retire go for it
- btw, all of the polutions from Vancouver get air into the valley so if she has a weak lung stay outta there.
Not all of Surrey is bad. Whalley, Guildford and Newton are the worse of them all. At Surrey Centre (Whalley) you have a 1/4 chances of losing your car after walking away from it. At Guildford Mall you have a 1/6 chances of losing your car. Or have your bank rob (judging from Davina's experience). Newton, I have a friend out there and her house was set on fire last year. Some day I'm going to find myself a nice quiet area out in Surrey with a back yard large enough to build a track
Bottom line is, if you're going to live in Surrey go live next to Sean and Melody - they're school teachers they'll take good care of your house for you in the summer
Speaking of Fraser Valley, anyone want to take a trip out to Mission Hill (Kelowna) after the Seattle trip?

I just got back from a trip out to the Penticton/Kelowna area of BC. I must say, it really was quite beautiful and very well developed. It pretty much had all the ameneties of living in the Vancouver area, with the added benefit of being a little more quiet. If I could get a job there, I would definitely consider it as a potential homestead...
