I had received the recall notice on the sparkplugs a bit ago, however, I had been waiting to get it done until my oil change came due. That being today, I had both done at Honda of Bellevue. Interestingly I was told that my car was one of the very few they have seen, that actually did show signs of the actual problem. They said it was very fortunate I brought mine in.

Anyone who has been waiting, as I did, should be advised to take it in sooner rather than later. Pretty scary what could have happened had I of waited even longer.

Hey Scott, long time no see!

That may be because several of us checked our plugs and cranked them down when the first report surfaced here of 'loose plugs blow engines'!

Even http://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/ shows no sparkplug recall for my car.
Only recalls listed there:
1. 2000 S2000 CONVERTIBLE TOP COVER
2. 2000 S2000 SEAT BELT RETRACTOR

Maybe not listed there since Honda isn't calling it a Recall, just a "Product Update" since it's not a safety issue.

Ken,

you certainly don't need to have the letter in hand to get the work done. Just call your favorite dealer and tell 'em to hook you up.

Tedster, the last thing I needed to do was get anywhere near my car's engine with any sort of mechanical device! You could be right though as I did not ask how many cars they have seen at Bellevue. For those that did it themselves, it would interesting to note how many found them loose. One way or the other, it sounds like people should get this done.

Ken, I received mine probably a month or so ago. However, you don't need to the notice to get it done. I just had them do it when I got the oil change. I didn't bring my notice in and they didn't hassle me. They did ask if I received the notice, but that's it.

Thanks guys! I guess it's time to confront my dealer-phobia. I don't want to drive all the way back to Sacramento just to get this done.

I'd rather visit a dentist.
Any local sedation service departments?

Yeah, I know how you feel. I absolutely HATE to take my car to the dealer. That said, however, I've had my car at Bellevue for oil changes, a TB sensor replacement, and now the sparkplug replacement. They've done a great job and have always been fast and accommodating. To this date, I have no complaints.

Ken;
Bellevue did my spark plug TSB; I literally walked behind my S as it was drove into the service area, watched the work being performed and walked behind my S as it was driven back to the service entrance staging area. Parker did the work; I assure he anti-siezed the threads and used a torque wrench set at 18 ft. lbs. They didn't put a paper mat down and got grease on my carpet but all other portions of the work was well done.

I had a small paint peel on the RR bumper where the bumper meets the metal and Bellevue allowed the repairs to be charged to warranty and allowed Bellevue Auto Rebuild to perform the work. So far, so good with Bellevue
