Default My window exploded!

I escaped work to go to dinner. I decided "it's not raining! down with the top!". I got it halfway down, and next thing i hear is a muffled pop. Sunuvabitch! I raise the top back up, and the bottom third of the window is now a collage of splintered plastic. At this point i was like "screw it", and lowered it back down... where it made another popping sound.

I'm now rockin' the duct tape. This makes me a sad panda. I need a new top.

Anyone have any personal experience with local installers, and how much they set you back? I can search for things like "Top x > Top y", and "the wiring to add defrost costs $$" questions... but I'm really lookin' for a local reputable installer who's not going to gouge the hell out of my interior (or my wallet!) when I loan them the car, and isn't going to do a half-assed install.

Anyone else's window go Boom?

is it possible to just replace the window? Not a Honda part but some aftermarket deal.

Not that i've seen. Doesn't say it's not possible, but i haven't seen it. Of course, my top had the typical bottom corner tears, and i just patched the wear spots behind my head, so perhaps it's not such a bad thing to replace the entirety of it.

looks like the OEM part is only $177 (that's less than the guy is asking in the FS forum, WTF)
Wonder if Mike could "man up" and get it even cheaper. Might needs me one of them ......

Try Convertibles Only , Roy Street in Seattle. They will know what to do.

oh wow, cheaper than I thought... I wonder what's involved in replacing just that part... on the other hand Matt... it's a 7yr old convertible... a new top is probably going to be needed soon, might as well get a quote for a full frame and glass window while you're at it.... I kick myself every day for not doing that. Drive with duct tape for a month or two if you have to, it'd be worth it.
