Northwest suspension setup
Hey there,
I've doing some research on S2000 suspension set-ups and there is a ton of information in past threads, but just not sure if there is a lot of misinformation or not.
Let me know if I am on the right track:
- Espelir seems to be the most recommended spring to drop 1.50"-1.75"
- Swift and Eibach seem to be the most recommended spring to drop 1.00"
- K3 V3 and Bilstein PSS9 seem to be the most recommended coilovers for an adjustable drop.
- K3 V3 is a good choice for track, but a harsher overall ride.
- Bilstein PSS9 is a good choice for DD, with a more comfortable ride.
Am I heading in the right direction?

Daily driving for just pleasure, no autox. Just a nice 1.5-1.75" drop or so to fill in fender gap.
Sorry, kind of new at this, so if you had some more specific questions about my driving habits I could answer those if that would help.

I would suggest Ground Control coil overs with Koni Yellow adjustable shocks. Yhey work well under most circumstances. I would like to say 'all' circumstances, but I can only say that about myself, not for others.
which one is being good is very subjective...
Be it ride comfort, handling or even performance.
Even if you have 10 sets of suspension in front of you, lets say A suspension have 2 seconds advantage over B suspension driven by a Professional test driver, put a different driver in it, it could be 5 seconds difference. Put me and you in it, we might turn faster lap time on B suspension than A suspension....
Generally a very nice race suspension will give you tons of feedback but not feeling harsh.
Another rule of thumb is that there's no bargain suspension that would perform better than the more expensive options. (You really get what you paid in this dept.)
My suggestion to you is to go out and ask for as many rides as you could in modified S2k. (Which I believed is handful in BC.)

I can't say which is good or better but here is my experience.
I have Tein comfort sports on my S2k right now and it is little too soft for me (spring rates are 4k and 2k) but it is very very comfortable just to dirve your car daily with it.
Also I have ohlins full coilover on my miata and I love it all the way around , just to drive daily and on the track. (little stiff but it's ok once you get used drive the car every day with it)
I had Tein flex and GPsports GR6 on my S13 (240sx).
GR6 had 10k and 12k spring rate so it was very very stiff and I didn't like it at all on the track and off the track.
It would been great for drift. (I would recommand for drifting)
Tein flex had little lower spring rate (7k all the way around) but I didn't really like the dampers compair to ohlins.
I also had honda civics , prelude, and other cars with spring and some basic name brand shock obsorber but it is not really recommanded compair to full coilovers.
I agree with slowv6 that you really get what you paid for.
I really love the ohlins and I think ohlin is the best full coilover sets I have ever had. (Dampers are very nice and sensitive)
It is little high price but well worth to invest on something that you are going to keep for long time.
I actully added cusco sway bars (thinckest sway bar I ever found so far) to stiffen my s2k little more so my tein doesn't really feel too soft.
BUY OHLINS~! or buy my tein comfortsports so I can buy ohlins. ^^
Tein comfortsport is recommanded for someone who wants to lower the car but doesn't wanna lose comfort. (it gives you much better ride than stock ones)
It can be different idea than other peoples idea or experience.
I would love to know what other people have on their car and I would love to know how it is like.

I'll be doing Koni w/ Eibach (Ground Control). I hear these have a softer in-city ride than stock, while still being a setup that has won many races.
