Q: Electronics Guru's ?
Ok PDX/SEA guys ...
I have mounted a camera in my grill which has a Video out. I run this into my digi-camcorder. Problem: once I do this, the camera kills all audio inputs (microphones) except the "audio-in". So, now I need an amplified microphone as the camera doesn't increase the gain on a "line-in". I bought a cheapy that takes a watch battery, but the sound is waaaaay too low (although it *is* there).
I found this link on making a cheap pre-amp: http://www.hut.fi/Misc/Electronics/circuit...its/micamp.html
Anyone in PDX willing to help me make this? I may have a few spare cameras to give to someone who is able to help me out ...
OR, is there some cheap alternative that I can just buy? Most of the pre-amps (if that is even what I need) online are hundreds of dollars.
TIA - Geoff

Or, does your digi-cam have an external mic accessory from the manufacturer?
It's a lot easier to go with something that is designed to work with your gear. It's not as much fun though...

I used a remote powered microphone to capture audio for a lot of the Porn footage. You can pickup battery powered remote microphones with fairly long cables on the cheap. Radio shack does offer a few to choose from for under $50, but they are all mono. You might want to do an internet search for a conferencing type battery powered microphone. Shop on price, the quality is all pretty much the same.
I've been to radio shack, and got a little powered mic (watch battery is the power source). I need more juice since this is NOT getting plugged into a "mic" jack. I'm hooking into an RCA "line in", so there is no gain compensation.
I'm trying to get audio from inside the car.
I would love to just use the built in MIC jack on the camcorder, but when I plug in my external video source, it expects the audio to come from that source also. So, the camera cuts out the internal mic, and also the MIC jack on the side.
Thanks for the input guys ...

I'd have to see a diagram of what your setup is to help you out.

If not, what do you need? More than happy to provide it for you

Thanks for any input!
