it's less of a price thing and more of a trust thing.

i know a guy i trust and his name is mike zeller. he runs his own shop (ex honda bellevue tech) down in olympia. for a valve job, this is the only guy i trust as he will put in the TLC as if the car was his

A couple of hours for a valve adjustment so yeah, $120-180 probably. (Any other sort of "valve job" and you are looking at a lot more money than that.) But like Ben says, anybody can do it, the question is who do you trust to do a good job? And like Ray says, why do you think you need anything adjusted at all?

i'm hearing a lot of ticking and was told that it was normal but i think it might have gotten louder. could just be my paranoia.

Well unfortunately I don't have anybody to suggest, this is a job I do for myself. It is normal to hear ticking, but of course I have no way of telling if your ticking is normal or not.

if the ticking pattern repeats at 1/2 engine RPM then it's prob the valves and I think the fuel injectors on the F20 fire once per rev so the ticking that's occurring once per rev is normal.
Count it at idle, you might be surprised but you can.

If you have a slight ticking noise(not much louder than the injectors) which is normal but if it's much louder than that the valves need adjustments.

A friend of mine is a cert. honda tech. and he's in Lynnwood. I don't know any one does a better job than him and I trust him. PM me if you want to talk to him. .

Half the RPM? I guess that makes sense if you are hearing one bad valve.

I've diagnosed many noise problems on airplanes using frequency analyzers, but I never thought about getting the frequency manually! Idle is around 900 RPM, which is 15 Hz. I guess figuring out the difference between 7-8 ticks per second and 15 ticks per second by ear wouldn't be impossible.
