or try chrome/black chrome powdercoat

not sure where you live and not sure if these guys are still in business, but there was a place in north Marysville called Ketchum polishing 360-403-8726, that does incredible work. I had a set of old Passat wheels that were destroyed and when I picked them up, I didnt even realize they were my wheels

I've got a set of Tacoma alloys that have some old factory clear coat that is flaking and pitted. Would be nice to get these looking near new again, wonder what they would charge.

I had a dropped '90 civic and like these Passat wheels, so I had a friend at a body shop keep his eye's open for a set. About a week later he called and said he bought a set from a junkyard for $400. Lets just say, I would never have bought these wheels, they looked like someone rubbed a curb on both sides for a mile and they were very tarnished. His wife called and said they were done and when I picked them up, I honestly didn't realize they were mine. They put each wheel on a lathe and milled a new lip, then polished the $hit out of them (mirror finish). They charged me $200, but that 15-20 tears ago. I'd give them a call. Let me know what they charge, just curious ........

He also suggested not putting a clear coat on, for the reason you mentioned. He just mentioned polishing them by hand every so often ..

Cool, yeah even though its a bit more maintenance, I prefer the look in the short and long term of polished aluminum with no clear coat.
