Default Spark Plug TSB 02-042 Completed Today

Parker at Bellevue Honda took care of the TSB this a.m.; anti-siezed the new plugs and torqued to 18 ft. lb. The service writer said the plugs excluding labor are appx. $130.00 dealer cost!!!! Whatsup with that????

He did not center punch above the 6th VIN digit on the firewall as stated in the TSB, as he states this will remove the paint, allowing rust. The electronic record shows it's completed as well as paper copies. I'm sure it's the butt dyno gone wrong but it seems to pull harder....

Ya, my butt-o-meter registered a stronger pull once I got the TSB done, mostly noticable at very high rpms. I bet that at least part of it is in my head, but here is how I am justifying the perceived gains:

The new spark plugs are more apt to prevent detonation at high RPMs, and thus timing is not automatically retarded as much by the computer...I don't know, just the first thing that popped into my head I am by no means a mechanic, and doubt that this is the end-all truth to the matter...

On another note, I am on the coast right now in Depoe Bay, and it is about 54 degrees outside! I totally forgot just how hard the S2k pulls at sea level with such low ambient temps!
There is nothing like feeling that jerk back into your seat when vtec kicks in!!!

I had Bellevue Honda do my Spark Plug Kit TSB today as well. Maybe my dyno is also whacked but I felt more pull as well. Engine seemed snappier.

Any proof of this? Bueller? Anyone?

I've also notice the small pull and easier to chirp between 1-2. It's probably from newer spark plugs - there's some discussion about this in the "Under the hood". It'll be interesting to see some dyno of before and after the TSB just to see how accurate our butt-o-meter is.

Had the plugs done this morning at Bellevue. Parker was tied up with RT's ride. I guess our cars don't go as well as they should when they have big holes in the pistons :-)

My butt dyno tells me that the car is now a 12 second machine! j/k of course - it does feel a bit snappier. I'm sure it's purely psychological. but I like it.
