I don't believe our car has a speed limiter (9200), only a rev limiter. The car's top speed is mostly drag limited. It's also limited by tire pressure and condition, top up or down, road surface, wind direction, ambient temp, humidity, quality of gas, etc, etc.

Where and how did you test the top speed?

What gear and what RPM where you at? 7000 RPM in 6th? Top up?

I've been at around 135 (indicated on the speedo) and still accelerating through turn 1 at SIR, with the top down. I guarantee my car will go well over 140, if I can find a long enought straght that I think is safe.

If someone comes up with a good test location, and we can get some lead and chase cars with radios, I've got the GPS to get a true reading...

On my way to Arizona in my first s2k, I was doing 140 with a feeling that there was plenty more there when I ran into traffic and had to back down. Got a speeding ticket shortly after, which made me a little timid for the rest of the run.

I don't believe there's a speed limiter and I'm pretty sure my car would have done 145 easily, possibly more.

There isn't a speed limiter and 140 is not the top speed. Try the same run with the top up to improve your drag coefficient.

I don't even want to know what that ticket looked like. I would recommend trying this on a racetrack.

It took a little time ...but I've been close to 160mph (indicated)
in Eastern Washington. Over 150 with the top down.
I would think your car needs a look at by the shop.

I'm down with doing the GPS high-speed runs. The more porn the better.

Ye-owza! That would be a nice addition to the collection.

BTW - I just signed up our first model last night. We should concoct more stupid ideas while getting drunk, they seem to work.

Ted,

I'm ran at night at I-5 south to downtown from lynwood
and it's on 6th gear and 7000 rpm and it can't go more than that it's a straight line

So you went all the way up to 9000 in 5th (136-140 MPH), then shifted to 6th, and you can't get above 7000 RPM or 140 MPH? That sounds pretty odd.

There are uphill and downhill sections on that stretch of I-5, though... For a real top speed run, you want straight, level, top up, cool weather, and no traffic

Please be careful; we don't want to have to bail you out of jail, or worse, read about them scraping you off the pavement.
