Default Is there some sort of production number on the S?

I am curious. On some posts, people are able to find out a number that seems to represent the exact quantity their particular S2000 was produced. Much like a limited edition collectible...

Does anyone know where to find this number and how many S2000s are produced in a year? I would like to know when mine was produced out of the total made.

Sorry if this is a stupid question...

Thanks! Do you know how to find out the total amount produced in 2002?

Somebody posted a thread on the build numbers in the S2000 Talk forum a month ago. Perform a search.

I have done a search on build numbers but there doesn't seem to be a consensus if the last six digits is the number it came of the lot. But it sounds like they are build in groups that are out of order.

Plus, I am a little confused from some of the past posts. They are saying that you can have a production number of 5000, yet your build number could say #605321 (of something like that). There was also more talk about different region codes. Do you pay attention to the last four digits rather than six digits?

And the amount imported into the States is at 9000 in the past couple years. Couldn't find anything for 2002, so assuming those numbers remain the same.

Maybe, but I already see more new MINIs and H2 Hummers on the road than S2000s, and we have 3+ years of production out there.

The last four digits should be your production number, out of those produced for the US (or is it North America) that year.

Since yours is a MY01, I think it No. 1201 (of around 9500) made for the US market in 2001. Canadian S2ks have the last 6 numbers of the vin as 80XXXX. In the Library section, there is an explanation of the VINs.
