Would that have stopped them from stripping the rest of the interior?! I could really care less about the seats once the top was slashed and the stereo, console, knob, steering wheel/ airbag, cluster and my personal belongings are gone.

Plus the seat locks are a deterrent, they DO NOT prevent seat theft if the thieves want them bad enough.

ARGH, this is getting to be $#@$ ridiculous!

Okay, I REALLY think that we SHOULD set up a sting. I'd be totally up to lookout, because I bet you anything there are probably only a couple different crews of guys out there doing this. The guys that hit mine came back to see if I'd replaced them, and they were in a white, JDM'ed Civic coupe (and a silver or dark grey metallic Toyota Tacoma with a cap to put them in) so they're probably tuner guys who know the seats are in demand.

If we can park someone's car, we lie in wait in a couple other cars with the lights off further up the block, we can box them in. If they DO slash the top of the sting vehicle, then they've committed a crime... we'd just need to have a video camera to prove it and give the cops advance notice so it won't take em 45 damned minutes to get there.

If we get them for that, the cops have more than enough to arrest them on, and they can get a warrant.

They search their houses, they find parts from S2000's and other Hondas that've been broken into, I guarantee you.

We make claims on the parts that have been stolen.

They track the punks' financial transactions and try to locate the other parts.

They go to jail.

Honestly I really feel like loading up the .40 and meeting them head to head, in many ways... these ****s are having a grand old time vandalizing our cars and stealing our property.

I would love to see someone try and remove seats with the seat locks I have from Pete (kodokan_4). They have a tapered head and a weird key pattern. I think the thieves would either destroy stuff in the car out of frustration or just move on. Next time you're down here or i'm up there I'll show you.

Nothing will deter a thief...absolutely nothing.

That being said...you can cause them grief while stealing your things and hope that that grief causes them to go to the next car. Secondly, with your seats in place (regardless of everything else ripped off)...you can drive your car away rather than leave it there while you figure out what you are going to do next.

Of course you are the exception in which they took everything...and I am truly sorry for that

I feel you, man. It's been over a month... my car sits right outside my apartment, right outside my bedroom window, and so I walk by it everytime I come home (either from riding the bus, or borrowing my roommate's busted-up 2000 Corolla, which is a punishment if you own an S2k) and it hurts/pisses me off every single time.

Every time I hear gravel crunch outside, I'm at the window looking... it wakes me up, haha.

The more I read about this sort of stuff happening, the more I have this all-pervasive desire to track down and cause grevious physical harm to these tools.

Where in Bellingham do you live? Sorry to hear about the loss. Makes me really glad I have a garage, but I never really worried about my car in Bellingham before reading this...
