Default trade in for an '03???

just wanting some opinions on this thought from anyone and everyone. i have an '02 sebring/black with ~12k miles now. the car is now 14 months old.

im considering trading it in for a white '03. why? cuz, as much as i love sebring, white is what i long for. but cost, however, is the main factor as to why i wouldnt do it.

so... am i crazy to think that a dealer would take this... my car + $4k to $6k? if the dealer gave me the car at $30k, and took my car for $26k, then they would still make $1k for the car, and if they sold my car for $28k, $2k for the sale of my car, plus dealer holdback for selling the '03. so that would results in a >$3k profit (hinging upon the sale of the traded in '02) i know that dealers usually make more than that on trades, but you guys think this would fly?

what would i get? a brand new WHITE s2000 (negative is the tan interior, which i will HAVE to swap out... maybe someone with a black would be willing to trade interiors? tan in black looks good, or even a red?!?!?! aka ferrari... )

thoughts? opinions? flames? bring it...

-mike

Why not wait until '04? Just to see what they will do? Can't hurt any and it won't be too long of a wait...

from what I've been hearing the 04 S2000 (S2200) will be more of a Z4 kinda car rather than the car that won the Car and Drivers contest between the 5 roadsters in their August issue...

which if so.. (compared to the high winding 00-03)

yeah, rumors, rumors, rumors. Doesn't hurt to wait till they are actually on a lot and you can see one for yourself though. If you don't like it, the '03 should be cheaper by then.

Are you going to die if you do not have a white car? I would have preferred white myself. With the posts of the S "maybe" changing in a couple of months and all, I think he is right. Why not wait a couple more months just in case that rumor is true and you do not blow your money on an "old" style S. You can always get an '04 in white even if it is the same car... And worth more.

I wished I had the money to even contemplate that.
