Default AA Battery talk

Though I'd start a thread on AAs. Not sure we have had one before

I've mostly used Ansmann's (NiMH 2700mAh) in the past but recently had a set that failed after 6 months. I'm not a big flash user but normally recharge my cells on a Friday evening just in case. I use a matching Ansmann fan controlled charger.

My flash is a Canon 580EXII

What do you guy's use for power?

Have (2) sets of 2500 Energizers and they are great can get 150-200 shots using a 580EX II.

Based on internet reviews bought a set of 2500 Sanyos and they will be my only set of Sanyos. Charge them the night before and they are deader then dead by the next morning. If I can get them from the charger to the flash within a couple hours they'll work.

Do have a Maha charger which I like.

I've never been brand sensitive. Should I be? I just run a set until it doesn't hold much charge. Nikon's SB-800 comes with a fifth battery extension just for faster recharging with NiMH's. But dealing with a fifth AA is a pain. so I've only ever used it at live events where recharge time might be important.

I have the Maha 2700's and the Sanyo low discharge 2000 (I think). For sheer on-demand power, go with the Maha's. If you use your flash every now and then and want to go a long time between charges try the Sanyo.

Personally, I like the Sanyo's.

I use Sanyo Eneloops for my 580EX II.. about 95% of people on photography-on-the.net uses them for their Canon flashes and what not. I use them on everyday stuff, like my calculator, wii remote, etc etc

I've come to the conclusion that they all suck. I just buy the cheapest set (8 bucks from B&H) every two months or so. Tired of wasting money on these things. LiIon FTMFW!
