Default All Smiles

My son was playing on our bed so I grabbed my camera and started taking pictures. He just started laughing and laughing and I got what I think are some great snaps.

Canon XSi, ISO 400, Canon EF 50 f/1.4, 1/60s.

1. I desaturated this a bit to sort of mute the colors a bit. First time I tried a look like this but I kind of like it.

2. Standard color scheme, slight saturation tweak, otherwise pretty much left alone.

C&C welcome!

Yeah, I love that 50mm. I just got an 85 f/1.8 and love it even more (even crisper and sharper) but it's long enough that it's tough to get a good angle at times.

My bro-in-law told me to get the 135 f/2 but it's quite a bit more expensive and I needed a moderate zoom for a friend's wedding (casual shooting - he has a photog already hired for the formal shots).

I still haven't bought a flash (hence the reason I'm buying fast primes) and that's really next on the list. After that, I'll probably buy a wideangle, then a good long lens (135 f/2L or 70-200 f/2.8L).

The 200 f/2.8L is a nice lens too, and relatively cheap, but on a crop body that's a LOT of zoom. The 135mm gets me over 200mm of zoom on my crop body, so it is probably the better buy, especially with the extra stop of light.

You wont regret either. That 70-200mm is a really sweet piece of glass. Highly recommended. And if you want longer a 300mm f4

I own all of those and trust me once you get them you will not give them up!
