Default Another 5D MKII Thread....

Take a look at this.

Good luck getting that video with anything sub 100K of camera equipment. This camera WILL change the face of photography/videography. To those that wanted a D3, the price is about to plummet.

And good luck getting that video with anything sub 15k worth of glass, 5k worth of production.

FD 7.5mm f/5.6 (converted to EF mount)
EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM
EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM
EF 50mm f/1.2L USM <---- 2 grand
EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM <---- 2 grand
EF 135mm f/2L USM
EF 200mm f/1.8L USM <---- don't make those anymore
EF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM <---- 8 grand at least
EF 500mm f/4L IS USM <---- 7 grand
TS-E 24mm f/3.5L
TS-E 45mm f/2.8

Oh. Yah you can buy all that crap, but you still gotta have the vision to pull that off

It's like sticking a Hassy to a newb; he's not going to be creating a new billboard campaign for Prada anytime soon just because the gear lets him do it.

While I admit the video is damn impressive, I still can't wrap my head around the concept. I just don't see a photographer switching to Movie mode to capture the moment when something is about to happen. Nor do I picture the videographer grabbing a 5D to cover an event.

Its just a gadget that will attract CONSUMERS, who will probably use the feature for a few weeks, and grow tired of it.

I have plenty of thoughts on this subject heck it got me in a pickle in the nikon thread But regardless the post above all have valid points. Sadly I think video in a still camera is here to stay its what the general public wants and we all know you have to cater to the big crowd not the purist.

The man who made this video...

http://blog.vincentlaforet.com/2008/09/22/...er-ado-reverie/

This camera is a game changer because if you are already a Canon EF photographer and have some of these lenses, you can do this too without having to invest independently into the whole video aspect.

The photography world is a-buzz with all this!

I think we're forgetting about the newspaper photojournalist who is being forced by their employer to carry a video camera around with them in order to capture video for the website. This camera (and those that will follow) allow a single piece of equipment to be used. Today, the poor guy has to literally switch roles between photographer and videographer on the fly.

Now, the newspaper photojournalist is a definite niche market (getting more "niched" every day as papers go under) so I'm sure that's not the only group Canon is hoping to attract with this camera.
