Default Blue Angels

This past weekend i got to see the blue angels in action, it was an absolute thrill. it was hotter then hell on a good day and over cast. i got a little lost on the way to the air field which left me with an obstructed view for the performance, but i was able to use some of the obstructions to my advantage and get some more artsy shots.

over all i like a lot of what i got, but want to shoot more shows for the thrill of it. i shot with my canon 20d and a 70-200 f2.8 IS with 2x extender with a polarized filter, it was so over cast that i really cant tell how it worked or if it did.

i shot over 800 images just on the blue angels alone, below is a sample of what i got.

to see them sitting on the ground is something i think everyone should see at some point, the jets are huge in comparison to everything else.

Nice shots. I was there as well. Got held up in Millville itself for about an hour or more due to the accident in town. Finally got to the show as the F15 was wrapping up.

I ended up all the way on the left, by the barrier to the tarmac for the airfield. My view was similar to your shot with Fat Albert.

Looking at my pics, I had a tougher time than I though with the sky. I'll post up a few later today. I'm not overly happy with my shots.

Cool shots.. But you need to clean your sensor. Tons of dust on there. Look at the images and notice the spots. It's dust and can ruin a great shot.

Also, what has helped me in recent months with color is this thing called an expodisc. Get one!! It will help tremendously w/ getting colors correct as well as consistent.

Here are 3 shots taken with my trusty 10D (still have it, still use it)

Hmmm - There were 3 of us in a bunch over there. Looking at your photo in the DV-Who's who thread, you don't look familiar (or actually, I don't recall anyone shooting with a Canon L lens.) I was in front of the guy with the tripod and the 600mm? prime lens. There was also a younger kid with the Sigma 50-500 next to me. I'd say I was even with the fuel trucks. I wonder if you were the guy I was talking to for a few minutes - that'd be funny.

Anyway - here are my shots that are a little different than yours.

Norm - I probably need a cleaning too. I got some big dust pieces cleaned recently, but probably missed some others. Did you get to shoot the Thunderbirds from a plane like you thought last week?

i cleaned the sensor before heading out on sat, but right as i was shooting i noticed a few specs while looking in the view finder did not know where they were coming from so i disassembled the lens and did a quick clean, which added more dust to the shots

i'm going to photoshop most of it out just have not had time.

i used the expo disk that day but it was so over cast that i really dont think it made much of a difference.

i have read a few articles on sensor cleaning but have not bought any gear to do so. mainly cause i dont know what works and what doesnt.

Even though it almost looks fake, and the sky is pretty dull, this is my favorite one
