Canon 7D and some lenses leaked...
|
would've been killer if it's 1.3 or full frame
18mp on a 1.6? I'm definitely going to look forward to seeing high iso out of this thing :) |
This is a replacement for the 50D, right? Otherwise, if it replaces the 5D, it doesn't make much sense at all...
|
I think it's meant to bridge the 50D and the 5D, I guess the huge gap in monetary difference between the two looked like a good spot to stick another camera.
|
I wish I heard about this before I made the plunge into the 5D2. Now my wallet is quite empty.
|
5D2 is still quite a bit more camera, I think. Same processor but full-frame sensor, higher resolution, probably significantly better higher ISO performance, etc, etc.
Price point is still unknown. That said, you can get a 5D MkII body at J&R for $2200 these days (Bing cashback and all that). They had one deal for $2000 (body only) as well but I missed out on that one. I'd have bought it to resell. :D |
Yeah, you're right. I did purchase the 5D2 with the kit lens using the Bing cashback discount. Save 6% from the retail price with no tax and shipping so thats all good.
|
Well, the release is official. I'm not a Canon guy, but if I was, this would be the camera to get.
Seems to be geared towards the sports photographer who doesn't wanna lug a 1d mkiii around. |
Hands-on: http://www.dpreview.com/previews/canoneos7d/
$1700 body only msrp Biggest thing I like about it is the new autofocus system and choices. |
New focus system definitely looks nice. Personally, the leveling system (with display) is a really nice feature that I'd like.
Good burst speed at 8 fps for roughly two seconds if shooting RAW. I'm guessing it's camera limited, not necessarily card limited. The video is nice, though I don't know if I'd use it or not. Probably more for work than pleasure, but who knows? This is definitely tempting though I still like the 5D MkII for it's high ISO capabilities. It'll be interesting to see how the 7D does, comparatively. I'd like to be able to shoot at ISO 1600 or 3200 with very little noise. |
