First set of HDRs
Yep HDR does not have many fans and is generally frowned upon by seasoned photographers.
One thing you may consider is blending 2 exposures rather than HDR.

I really like the cat and the bike... Nice work.
I have to admit that I don't get why some don't care for the technique. I think it is pretty nifty... Is it considered "cheating" or something?

I'll take that into consideration zzziippyyy.
Thanks, those two are my favorite too.
So far, from reading around, the most common reason it's not liked is because it makes things look too cartoonish.
Done right and extensively it can look very real, but most of us noobs get carried away and over do it. Of course I appreciate pure pictures, but different things are always cool too.

I feel like the shot of the bike is a little overcooked. Maybe use more light-smoothing (what program are you using to do your HDR processing?). The shot of the SUVs is nice, though I think the sky is a bit overdone. I really like your shot of the cat, I think that one came out the best by far.

I'm just using Photomatix alone. First time using or doing it. I should be using a few programs later on right?
Yeah, the bike I did on purpose because at full....tone mapping? it looked too plain (even though that's sometimes the best with HDR). So it was at the medium (3rd bubble) option (out of 5 bubbles).
Agree with the sky too, but done on purpose as well. Friend wanted to see a dramatic effect after the subtle PC tower pic.
All in all, I'm still trying to just get sharp pictures out of my camera, but that's where all the reading around and feedback comes in hand.

the light halos around the trees and such are too obvious images look way too processed.
i think if you use HDR on images that Don't require high dynamic range to appreciate the shot, its a waste of time..
eg If everything can be equaly exposed in your. HDR is pointless imo.
especially the photomatrix kind lol, And to me most HDR's like the ones you posted are ugly, with an exception to the SUV one.
