maybe the bird moves so much that the 1/2 sec shutter speed is amazing..

I would be hundreds of times more impressed if this shot was handheld

That's freaky if hand-held but I'm not buying it. Had to be a tripod (and lucky timing for a static bird, lol). Too sharp!

^^^
maybe he meant the bird was being hand-held while the shot was taken LOL

We all know 1/2s at 700mm hand-held has 0.000(how many 0s?)1% to be relative clear but that was razor sharp - even less believable

Here is my Kingfisher. 70-200 2.8IS @ 2.8, low LOW light, ISO 100, don't remember the shutter speed. Taken with my old 30D.

Check his blog, he states its handheld. Like I said in the title hard to fathom!

Blog is here

Where does he say it was handheld? Just because he didn't use a tripod doesn't mean he didn't steady the camera somehow, whether it was a tree or light pole or large rock. And he has a LOT of pics of his gear on a tripod.

People make all kinds of claims. Sometimes they are lying and sometimes they are just misread.
