Default HDR shots

Had a little local Honda meet and I got to try out AEB with my Canon Rebel XTi. Had it for a while but never really tried HDR. Now I only wish I could have used my 70-200mm L series lens with the short distance. I had to use my 50 dollars Tamron lens which seems to be taking awesome pictures.

Comments and help encouraged. I like the surreal look and thats kinda what I was trying to get.

Don't take any of this personally - it is all just constructive criticism.

Forget the HDR for a minute and let's discuss composition. No matter how neat you make it look with a HDR-polish it is still going to be uninteresting because it was composed like it was taken with a point and shoot. There isn't enough foreground, there is too much background, and the yellow lines pull attention away from the cars. Did you notice you chopped the front end of the silverstone S off? Every other car can be seen in full, but the silverstone S is cut in half - it doesn't look right.

The better shot would have been using that wall (on the left side of the image) as the background and shooting from the ground - same level as the cars. It looks like there is another level in the parking garage that might have given you more room to pull that off. You probably would have needed a wider lens too.

Did you notice that your final image is very dark? Does it look dark on your monitor? If not, then you should probably look at it on a different computer. Either your computer is off, or mine is.

The top is the final image? I thought it was the underexposed shot for highlight detail.

Thanks. Yeah, its something I threw together a little quickly. If you don't enlarge them, you can't really see any of the detail.

I actually had my friend take the pictures, but I explained to him how to take them. We had a limited setup with these shots... He had to climb up onto the top of the staircase enclosure to take them and I didn't have the balls to risk falling off. He was the one who told us to park where we did so he could see them, but apparently he sucked at it.

I did all of the post editing though. Basically quickly compile the HDR and tone map it. I meant to have the first one dark and the second and third brighter, but I guess that brings out a negative thought. Next time I'll put them together so they look like a normal picture, but thats not really what I like.
